Jennifer Cohrs, LPC

Jennifer Cohrs, LPC is a Georgia licensed professional counselor, who is passionate about working with children, adolescents, and parents. She strives to provide a nurturing, welcoming, and safe atmosphere that allows clients to explore their emotions and learn affective skills.

Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Tampa and her master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University. Her personal experiences and awareness of cultural differences led to her exploration and knowledge regarding the importance of mental health and the use of coping mechanisms to help overcome transitional and life difficulties.

Jennifer’s experience and passion includes working with anxiety disorders, trauma, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), emotional regulation, school issues, self-esteem, grief, and social difficulties. Her treatment plans focus on each client’s unique personality, individual needs, and psychosocial and family history. She utilizes an integrative approach and incorporates play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), expressive-arts interventions, and skill building. Through this expressive medium and therapeutic relationship, clients are able to explore their thoughts and feelings, learn effective coping skills, and grow emotionally and socially. She views parents and caregivers as an integral part of the process and works closely with them to establish a network of support for their child.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has worked with children and adolescents in a private practice setting, as a psychological assistant evaluating children, adolescents, and adults with developmental delays, learning disabilities, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and emotional and behavioral challenges. This experience has given her an in-depth understanding of the complexity of disorders and the importance of taking a person’s environment, family of origin, and social context into consideration during the therapeutic process.

Jennifer is a member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia and a certified Autplay Therapy provider.
